Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Included a new version of Microsoft DHCP Server, which implements address conflict detection feature, able to limit the throughput of Microsoft DHCP Server.
  • Fixed a bug in Clipboard, where drawing function couldn't leave data after closing application.
  • NETBIOS now defaults to 16 Sessions on Windows NT 4.0.
  • Implemented STOP 0x00000024 in ntfs.sys driver.
  • Fixed a bug with cacls.exe, which might report errors, when handling extended characters.
  • Fixed bug, which made unable to read some compact discs.
  • Many other minor fixes.

Source code[edit | edit source]

The source code of aforementioned operating system version was leaked in February 2004 among with ~33% of Windows 2000 sources. The code is mostly complete, excluding cryptographic related components such as rsa32.dll, which were excluded from archival due to licensing issues, as the code was adapted from a reference implementation by RSA themselves. This is not the case in Windows 2000 and later, as Microsoft rewrote rsa32.dll to use a functionally identical, but entirely originally written implementation.

Among this, source code's some files are purposely modified to make source code compilation even harder. However, by making necessary modifications and adding missing components, source code's environment can be fulfilled and be ready to build.
